What Customers Say About Sony PlayStation 3 Blu-ray Disc Remote:

Responds well, looks nice, had no problems setting it up with my system. However I imagine this does a lot more. I don't use this remote for anything other than watching movies on my system but it's great for that. Just thought I would post a quick review for this remote. A good buy, I will however mention look for it online because I found mine much cheaper than in stores. Yes I know that is a DUH comment for plenty of people, but I think for the person who doesn't know much about how technology works that it is a pretty cool thing to know. Although I knew that this remote was blue-ray technology I didn't think about it due to years of normal remotes, but this remote is cool because you don't have to point it at your system. It is bigger than the old ps2 remote, I wish it was a lot smaller.

Since the PS3 doesn't have an IR port, a Bluetooth remote is the only option. It can be under a cushion when you sit down and all of a sudden you PS3 is whirring up. The remote itself works great and has all the functions you would need. However any button you press will turn your PS3 on.

You will see the hard drive light start to blink for a few seconds and your PS3 will turn off.As it stands this is your only real choice for full functionality and thankfully it is not a bad one. I guess in this sense it's good there is no one touch power off. Press and hold the PS button for about two seconds. It feels sturdy and does what needs to be done. Now press the OK button twice about a second apart from each other. Now I think that using Bluetooth for a remote is a great idea, but that means I can't use my great universal remote until Logitech develops a remote with Bluetooth.

Turning the PS3 off is a 3 button affair. If like me, you use your PS3 primarily for watching Blu-Ray movies then this is a must have. It's true there is no one button for power off, so that is kind of a pain. This can be annoying sometimes since it's Bluetooth and so doesn't need to be pointed at the PS3 or even have line-of-sight.

The remote is very light and user friendly with a nice battery life. Comes in handy when needed, doesn't waste controls battery life when watching movies or just browsing the menus or the playstation store.

Not the PS3 -- it STOPS. This feels like cheap plastic -- if Sony made their game controller this way, we'd all have XBoxes by now.I can only infer that Sony had their trainee designers throw this dog together. But this is just a bad joke:1 - the STOP BUTTON is between the PLAY and PAUSE buttons, and all three are the same shape and texture -- meaning you often hit it by mistake.

It looks and feels like a remote made by gamers, not by people who actually want to watch a movie. And a bunch of sycophantic executives as product testers. Too bad, because the game controller that comes with the PS3 is a more funtional remote than this -- and far more robust.

Sony hs been making remotes for some time, so you think they'd come up with something servicable. Then you have to start up the DVD again, click through the start-up commecials on the Blu-Ray, and then find where you were when you first tried to pause it.2 - No OFF button, so you have to go through the PS3 shut-down process.3 - No backlight -- for the price they're asking, this device should have a back light, because.4 - Text is too small, and buttons are often unclear. It should never have been released.Considering the price tag -- and the price tag of the PS3 you're buying it for -- this is just another of the many examples of Sony gouging the consumer.Stick with your game-controller and save youself some money.

Normaly no problem since most DVD Players have a resume function default. It bails out of DVD mode and drops you into the system menu.

It's easier than using the onscreen controls with the regular PlayStation controller, but I wouldn't recommend gaming with it (if it's possible). I'm not sure why this review form is referring to this as a "game" and asking me how much fun it is, but the remote does what it's supposed to do.
